Barely Breathing

My lungs are torn.
Blood pours forth from my side.
"Just breathe," I tell myself. But with every drop of blood, my breath grows shallow.
My face wanes.
I have been without oxygen for so long that I have forgotten how to breathe.
My flesh shivers in the torrent, the dew ravages my eyes.
Must I succumb to this fate?
